Music for a Manic Monday – "Yoga Moods" and Audition Success!

February 7, 2011

I need to tell you about this CD.  In fact, I may have told you about it before, but I don’t care.  I’ll say it again.

This is an amazing collection of music.  I know many of you out there are faithful Yoga students, and I’m sure a few instructors read this blog.  I highly recommend this CD for home practice or studio instruction.  Its mellow without being boring, interesting without being distracting, and includes nature sounds that aren’t fake and cheesy.  Check it out on Amazon here.  You can listen to 30-second samples of all the tracks.  There are so many of these kinds of CDs out there, and for my money, this one is the best.  It has been a staple of my Yoga practice for years, and I haven’t grown even a bit tired of it.

My first audition of the season was on Saturday, and let me just say, HOORAY!  Now, you never can tell what the results will be, and they aren’t in your control as much as you may think, but I’m thinking I did really well.  I know I did really well.  It was actually a little bit surprising!  I had done a lot of work in the last few months on preparations, as in, getting my nerves under control.  It paid off, because I went in with a great attitude, actually laughing instead of shaking in my boots, and it showed in my performance.  I was also tested on piano skills, theory knowledge, and aural skills.  Much to my surprise, I was nearly perfect in these areas.  Its been said that I don’t give myself enough credit, and I suppose that is true.  Perhaps I should have expected this?  Either way, it was a great experience and I hope it turns out in my favor.

Actually I’m trying not to think about the results.  As a teacher of mine once said, “Set it and forget it”.  I had no idea what he meant at the time, but I’m feeling it now.  I have more auditions to prepare for, so no time to think about the past.  Cross your fingers for me though!

    >Be proud of yourself! Can you see me smiling for you? I am! You TOTALLY deserve this! I'll be thinking of you as you continue the auditions.
